Respecting a persons culture is of vital importance during a time of loss. Their rituals offer people a way to process and express their grief and a means for their community to support the bereaved.

In recent times I experienced this, where a loved one carefully placed an ‘Earth Blanket’ part of their tribal heritage over their loved one’s coffin that embodied the elements of earth and sky.

A gift from their tribe to their loved one departed that symbolised respect, friendship and gratitude, a symbol of belonging to a people with a long and proud tradition, the blanket going with their loved one.

After a service I always reflect back on the life of that person and on this particular occasion as I walked the beach, I turned towards the evening sun as I felt this beautiful radiant light, and received a message from the spiritual realm, saying ‘I’m okay’. it’s not the first time I have experienced varying messages upon reflection but I felt compelled to share it with the loved one’s ‘Soulmate’, who referred to the image in their own tribal language as the ‘Setting Sun.’

In gratitude for the receiving, I echoed this beautiful departed soul a typical Celtic blessing in respect of their own heritage  ‘May The Perpetual Light Shine Upon You and May You Rest In Peace Amen,’

And here’s the image I took at that very moment……

Peace and Light Liv
